The paper deals with typological and content-related peculiarities of the literary and artistic publications in Iran and Belarus which are dedicated to children and teenagers. The object of the research: journals which constitute a significant part of the media terrain and fulfill the important educational function which is to from the consciousness of the rising generation. The subject of the research: the main functions of the contemporary mass media in Iran and Belarus for children and teenagers. The connection is revealed between the contemporary press for children and national, historical and cultural traditions. It has been reviewed that the necessary balance between entertaining and educational qualities of the publications for children is achieved due to spiritual values of the contents of the works, the adherence to the national traditions, the renewal of forms and methods of a dialogue between children and the journalists. The results of the investigation can be used for the future development of the press for children in Iran and Belarus, as well as for the study of the problems of main functions of the publications for children and teenagers.
