The journal of News Science (NS) is an open-access, peer-reviewed quarterly journal in Persian (with English abstracts and bibliographies) devoted to the fields of journalism, published by the Press Institute for Contemporary International Journalism (PICIJ), and is scientifically sponsored by the  Iranian Political Sociology Association and Allameh Tabataba'i University (ATU) Social Communications Scientific Pole.  It is an interdisciplinary journal devoted to the publication of original articles, review articles, etc., considering the research ethics and academic rules and regulations. This double-blind, peer-reviewed journal publishes original articles on the history of journalism, media, and mass communication in Iran and internationally. The journal also features historiographical and methodological essays, book reviews, and digital media reviews. The journal of News Science (NS) provides a forum for the study and critical discussion of journalism as both a subject of academic inquiry and an arena of professional practice. The journal of News Science (NS) welcomes scholarship from around the world, extending into broader media and communication topics of relevance to journalism.

The journal of News Science (NS) pursues an ambitious agenda, which encourages exploration of the widest possible range of media and specialisms associated with journalism. It does so by embracing the interdisciplinary nature of journalism studies, which has marked the field since its start.
