Abstract
Today, having properly perceived the significance of journalist activities accompanied by the faith to the role played by this group for protecting the right to freedom of expression, some measures have been taken to protect journalists at the national, regional and international levels. Meanwhile, the international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which are mainly established in cooperation with the directors, personnel and the owners of the news agencies, are making efforts to take long steps in protecting the rights of journalists. Given that evaluating the nature and function of the international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which are active in protecting journalists rights, not only would help to reform those institutions but it may pave the way for supporting and strengthening these organizations; in this contribution an effort has been made to evaluate nature and function of International Committee to Protect Journalists.
