Abstract
Objective: Quality of life, as a key indicator in the development of societies, is influenced by various factors, including economic, social, and cultural capital. Given the increasing number of pensioners in Iran and the role of the Social Security Organization in supporting this group, it is essential to examine the relationship between different types of capital and their quality of life. The aim of this research is to conduct a sociological analysis of the relationship between types of capital and the quality of life of pensioners of the Social Security Organization in Tehran with an emphasis on social security for journalists.
Methods: The research method is descriptive-correlational, and the statistical population consists of all pensioners covered by the organization in the years 2024-2025. Data were collected using both standard and researcherdesigned questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using statistical software and structural equation modeling. The sample size was 155, selected using random sampling. To measure the components (subscales) of social capital, t-tests for a single sample were used for the studied variables.
Results: Regarding economic capital, the distribution showed that 3.5% of respondents were categorized as poor and below the poverty line, 76% were at an average level, 18% were considered middle class, and 2.5% were categorized as affluent (wealthy). The highest frequency in terms of economic status was found in the middle and average class group. Additionally, the results of the structural equation modeling showed that social capital had the most significant impact on quality of life with a beta coefficient of 0.546, while economic and cultural capital had significant impacts with coefficients of 0.381 and 0.297, respectively
Conclusions: The results indicate that all indicators were generally rated as average to desirable. The findings reveal that the cultural capital and its subscales are rated as being at an average to above-average and desirable level.
